The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and those that blow gently, 2 And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy), 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright), 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 They said, “So this return is an obvious loss!” 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 and hastily turned away, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
