The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 No indeed! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny." 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 Ah, what will convey unto thee what 'Illiyin is! - 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Behold, [in the life to come] the truly virtuous will indeed be in bliss: 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They shall be given to drink of a wine that is sealed, 25 pouring forth with a fragrance of musk. To that [wine of paradise,] then, let all such aspire as [are willing to] aspire to things of high account: 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 The spring from which drink the ones close to Allah. 28 Verily! (During the worldly life) those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 And wink one to another when they passed them; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 upon couches gazing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
