▼ 56 The Inevitable
Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A company of the former peoples 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 As for the People on the Left: how miserable will be the People on the Left! 41 In fierce hot wind and boiling water, 42 And shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cold nor graceful in shape. 44 Surely they had lived before in luxury, 45 And persisted obstinately in wickedness supreme! 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say (unto them, O Muhammad): Lo! those of old and those of later time 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 Then you erring ones, you that cried lies, 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 And fill (your) bellies with it; 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 And drink as drinks the thirsty camel. 55 This shall be their hospitality on the Day of Doom. 56 We have created you, why do you not then assent? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Do you yourselves create it, or are We the Creators? 59 It was We who decreed death among you. We will not be surpassed 60 In order that We may bring in your place the likes of you and make you grow into what you know not. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you or We Who make them grow? 64 If We will, We would make it broken stubble and you would remain wondering, 65 (Saying:) 'We are laden with debts! 66 “In fact, we were unfortunate!” 67 Have you ever considered the water which you drink? 68 Do you send it down from the clouds, or We send it down? 69 Had We wanted, We could have made it salty. Why then do you not give thanks? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Is it ye who grow the tree which feeds the fire, or do We grow it? 72 It is We who have made it as a reminder and a means of comfort for the people. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
