Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Say, (O Prophet), it was revealed to me that a band of jinn attentively listened to (the recitation of the Qur'an) and then (went back to their people) and said: “We have indeed heard a wonderful Qur'an" 1 guiding to rectitude. We believe in it, and we will not associate with our Lord anyone. 2 And (we believe) that He - exalted be the glory of our Lord! - hath taken neither wife nor son, 3 And that the foolish amongst us used to forge extravagant things against Allah: 4 ‘Whereas we thought that men and jinns would never fabricate a lie against Allah!’ 5 and that “some from among the humans used to seek protection of some among the jinn, and thus they increased the arrogance of the jinn”; 6 And that they thought as you think, that Allah would not raise anyone: 7 We sought to reach heaven, but found it filled with strong guards and flames -- 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 and that “we do not know whether evil is intended for those on the earth, or whether their Lord intends to direct them to the Right Way”; 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 and that “we thought that we will neither be able to frustrate Allah on earth, nor frustrate Him by flight”; 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. 14 but as for those who abandon themselves to wrongdoing - they are indeed but fuel for [the fires of] hell!'" 15 Had they (jinn and mankind) remained steadfast in their religion (Islam), We would certainly have given them abundant water to drink 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 ‘And that the mosques are for Allah only – therefore do not worship anyone along with Allah.’ 18 And when the bondman of Allah stood calling upon Him, they well nigh pressed on him stifling. 19
