And Aaron indeed had told them beforehand: O my people! Ye are but being seduced therewith, for lo! your Lord is the Beneficent, so follow me and obey my order. 90 They said, “We will continue to squat* before it, till Moosa returns to us.” (* Continue worshipping it.) 91 Moses said to Aaron, "What prevented you, when you saw that they had gone astray, 92 Did you disobey my orders?" 93 'Son of my mother' he replied, 'Do not seize my beard nor my head. I was afraid that you might say: "You have divided the Children of Israel and did not uphold my word." 94 (Moses) said: And what hast thou to say, O Samiri? 95 He said, "I perceived what they did not see. So I took a handful [of dust] from the footprint of the Messenger and threw it in [the calf]. That is what my inner self prompted me to do." 96 Moses said: "Be gone, then. All your life you shall cry: 'Untouchable.' There awaits a term for your reckoning that you cannot fail to keep. Now look at your god that you devotedly adored: We shall burn it and scatter its remains in the sea. 97 But the god of you all is the One Allah: there is no god but He: all things He comprehends in His knowledge. 98 So We relate to thee stories of what has gone before, and We have given thee a remembrance from Us. 99 Whoever turns away from it will bear a heavy burden on the Day of Judgement, 100 [Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load - 101 The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed. 102 Whispering secretly among themselves, “You have not stayed on earth but for ten days.” 103 We know best what they will say. The most perceptive of them will say, "You stayed only one day." 104
