Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What do you worship' 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They replied, "But we found our fathers doing the same." 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 You and your fathers? 76 They are enemies to me except the Lord of all the Worlds 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 He will cause me to die and will bring me back to life. 81 And Who, I ardently hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment. 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 And give unto me a good report in later generations. 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 and forgive my father, for he was among the astray. 86 And abase me not on the day when they are raised, 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 It will be said to them: 'Where is that you worshipped, 92 besides God? Will the idols help you? Can they help themselves?" 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error 97 “When we considered you equal to the Lord Of The Creation.” 98 And none led us astray except the culprits. 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 There is certainly a sign in that, but most of them would not believe: 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
