The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 But the foremost shall be [they who in life were] the foremost [in faith and good works]: 10 Who will be honoured 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And shade extended 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 For those on the right. 38
