▼ 74 The Hidden Secret
Al-Muddath-thir 2 of 2
I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 a warning to humankind, 36 to whoever among you desires to go forward, or lag behind. 37 Every soul, for what it has earned, will be retained 38 except those of the right hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 concerning the sinners, 41 "What was it that brought you to Hell?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; 44 we indulged in vain arguments along with those who indulged in them; 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Till death overtook us. 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 Then what is the matter with them that they turn away from admonition?- 49 As they were frightened asses 50 Fleeing from a hunter, or a lion, or a beast of prey. 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 No indeed; but they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 There is no doubt that the Quran is a guide. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 No one will seek guidance unless God wills it. He alone is worthy of being feared and He is the Source of Forgiveness. 56

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
