The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands). 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has the story of Moses come to you 15 Lo! His Sustainer called out to him in the twice-hallowed valley: 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
