The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be called to account?- 4 Unto an Awful Day, 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Nay, but their hearts are corroded by all [the evil] that they were wont to do! 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 However, the records of the deeds of the virtuous ones will certainly be in Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 witnessed by those brought nigh. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which do drink those brought nigh. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And whenever they saw them, they would say, "Behold! These are the people truly astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
