The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, but verily man is rebellious 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Tell me, if he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is on the guidance (of Allah)? 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock,- 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 So let him now call his gang! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 By no means! Obey not thou him. Continue to adore, and continue to draw nigh. ۩ 19
