The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 and those that blow gently, 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 Then those who regulate the affair. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "Then this returning will be a dead loss." 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he turned away, deliberating, 22 and gathered his people together 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 So God seized him for the punishment of the Hereafter and this world. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
