Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In a high Garden. 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
