The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 for, behold, unto thy Sustainer all must return. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 Or he commandeth piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
