Al-Takweer
The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
29 verses, revealed in Mecca after Thorns (Al-Masad) before The All High (Al-A'alaa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 when the mountains shall be set in motion, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when the Scorch shall be made to blaze, 12 when Paradise is brought near, 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 Endued with Power, with rank before the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 Nor of the unseen is he a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 but your wishing will not avail unless Allah, the Lord of the Universe, so wishes. 29
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
