The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who, when people measure for them, take full measure, 2 Whilst when they measure or weigh for them, give less. 3 Imagine such men not that they shall be raised up? 4 on a great day 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Yes indeed – they will be deprived of seeing their Lord on that day. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay! Verily, the Record (writing of the deeds) of Al-Abrar (the pious who fear Allah and avoid evil), is (preserved) in 'Illiyyun. 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 A written record, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 On Thrones (of Dignity) will they command a sight (of all things): 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine to drink, which is kept preserved, sealed. 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 for it is composed of all that is most exalting 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 Lo! the guilty used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And, when they passed them, to wink at each other, 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 and when they saw them said: 'These are they who are astray' 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 But today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers; 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Have the unbelievers been duly rewarded for their deeds? 36
