The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from an embryo; 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or bade to godfearing -- 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 A forelock that lies, is sinful. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
