The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 The event will be abasing some, and exalting some. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 Those on the Right -- how blessed are those on the Right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 in the Gardens of Bliss. 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 with goblets and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 Except the word peace, peace. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 and acacias flower-clad, 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
