Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
We sent Noah to his people (and directed him): “Warn your people before a grievous chastisement comes upon them.” 1 He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner, 2 [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me. 3 He will forgive your sins and will grant you respite till an appointed time. When the time appointed by God arrives, it cannot be postponed, if you only knew." 4 He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day. 5 but my pleas have only increased their aversion. 6 And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance. 7 Then I summoned them openly, 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What is the matter with you, [that you fear not Allah (His punishment), and] you hope not for reward (from Allah or you believe not in His Oneness). 13 While He has created you in stages? 14 See you not how Allah has created the seven heavens one above another, 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And Allah has caused you to grow out of the earth so wondrously, 17 and He will later cause you to return to it and will then again bring you out of it. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
