Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 We have made it a Qur'an in Arabic, that ye may be able to understand (and learn wisdom). 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 And how many a prophet have We sent among the ancients. 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 We therefore destroyed the people who were more forceful than these, and the example of the earlier ones has already gone by. 8 Yet thus it is [with most people]: if thou ask them, "Who is it that has created the heavens and the earth?" - they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All-Knowing has created them." 9 He who made the earth a bed for you, and laid out tracks upon it so that you may find the way; 10 It is He who sends water down from the sky in due measure, We revive dead land with it and likewise you will be resurrected from the grave, 11 and who created the pairs, all of them, and appointed for you ships and cattle such as you ride, 12 so that you can sit upon their backs and then remember the Favors of your Lord and say: 'Exaltations to Him who has subjected these to us otherwise, we ourselves were not capable of it, 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 Yet they assign to some of His slaves a share with Him (by pretending that He has children, and considering them as equals or co-partners in worship with Him). Verily, man is indeed a manifest ingrate! 15
