(O Prophet), did the story of Abraham's honoured guests reach you? 24 When they entered upon him, they said: Peace. Peace, said he, a strange people. 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 He placed it before them. Then he said, "Why are you not eating?" 27 beginning to be afraid of them. But they said, "Don't be afraid"; and they gave him the good news of a son who would be endowed with knowledge. 28 And his wife approached with a cry [of alarm] and struck her face and said, "[I am] a barren old woman!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ He said: What is your affair then, O apostles! 31 They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 marked by your Lord upon those who go beyond the limits.” 34 Then we brought forth such believers as were there. 35 But We found not there any household of the Muslims except one [i.e. Lout (Lot) and his two daughters]. 36 We left therein evidence for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 but he turned his back with his Assembly, saying: 'He is (either) a sorcerer or a mad man' 39 We therefore seized him and his army and threw them into the sea, while he was blaming himself. 40 And in 'Ad (there is also a sign) when We sent against them the barren wind; 41 and it destroyed everything over which it passed and reduced it to dust. 42 There is also evidence (of the Truth) in the story of the Thamud, who were told to enjoy themselves for an appointed time. 43 But they disobeyed the command of their Lord; so they were destroyed by a thunderbolt, and they could only gape, 44 And they were unable to arise, nor could they defend themselves. 45 So were the People of Noah before them for they wickedly transgressed. 46
