Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the dipersing winds that disperse. 1 and those that carry the burden [of heavy clouds,] 2 And those [ships] sailing with ease 3 And the angels who distribute the affair. 4 Verily, that which you are promised (i.e. Resurrection in the Hereafter and receiving the reward or punishment of good or bad deeds, etc.) is surely true. 5 and the Day of Judgment will inevitably take place. 6 By the beautiful heavens, 7 Verily ye are in a divided opinion. 8 and perverted therefrom are some. 9 Perish will those who just guess and speculate, 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 [It is] the Day they will be tormented over the Fire 13 'Taste your trial! This is that you were seeking to hasten.' 14 Surely the God-fearing will find themselves in the midst of gardens and springs. 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 they would lie asleep during but a small part of the night, 17 and would pray for forgiveness from their innermost hearts; 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 And on the earth are signs for the certain [in faith] 20 And also in your own selves. Behold ye not? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 for, by the Sustainer of heaven and earth, this [life after death] is the very truth - as true as that you are endowed with speech! 23
