The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise, and warn. 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 Thy raiment purify, 4 And all defilement shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And gave him sons present before him. 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 and yet, he greedily desires that I give yet more! 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 Indeed, he thought and deliberated. 18 May he be condemned! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he looked, 21 Then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what can make you know what is Saqar? 27 It spares not, neither leaves alone 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
