The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is no living being but there is a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created of spurting water 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the replenishing earth, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and is no idle tale. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I am cunningly devising. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
