The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Terror descends 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 when the earth will suddenly shake with a terrible shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 Those! they shall be the brought nigh, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and a few from later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 All this shall be theirs as a reward for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 And extended shade, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And couches raised up. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
