The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And stay away from idols. 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and to whom I have granted resources in abundance, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 and to whose life I gave so wide a scope: 14 yet he is eager that I increase him. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So let him be cursed! How he plotted! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 He looked (at others); 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It spares nothing; it leaves nothing intact; 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
