The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 and casts out all that is within it and becomes empty; 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 and he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
