The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 Consider the creation of the male and the female! 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 and believes in the finest, 6 Surely We will ease his way unto the state of ease. 7 But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient. 8 And who belieth the Good, 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 His wealth will not avail him when he falls into ruin. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 And away from it shall be kept the one who guards most (against evil), 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 They do not expect any reward 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
