Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 and the recompense shall surely happen. 6 By heaven with all its tracks 7 surely you speak at variance, 8 and are turned away from him who is turned. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are careless in an abyss! 11 They ask, “When will be the Day of Judgement?” 12 The day they will be burnt in the Fire, 13 'Taste your trial. This is what you have sought to hasten' 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord gives them, because, before then, they lived a good life. 16 They slept little in the night, 17 And in the dawns they prayed for forgiveness. 18 And in their wealth the beggar and the outcast had due share. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And in your own souls (too); will you not then see? 21 And in the heaven is your sustenance and what you are threatened with. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is certainly the truth. It is as true as your ability to speak. 23
