Nay, and by the moon, 32 And the night when on the wane, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 a warning to humankind, 36 to whoever of you desires to go forward or lag behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 except those of the right hand 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 about the guilty ones: 41 What led you into the Scorching Fire? 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 and we were wont to indulge in sinning together with all [the others] who indulged in it; 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 fleeing before a lion? 51 Rather, every person among them desires that he would be given scriptures spread about. 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 and whoever wills may take it to heart. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
