Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And carpets spread around. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And the mountains how they have been established? 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Verily unto Us is their return. 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
