And recite to them the news of Ibrahim. 69 When he asked his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate? 72 “Or do they benefit you or harm you?” 73 They said: Nay, but we found our fathers acting on this wise. 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He doth guide me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and, whenever I am sick, heals me, 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord! Vouchsafe me wisdom and unite me to the righteous. 83 And appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the latter. 84 And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure. 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 The day when neither wealth nor children will be of any avail 88 "But only he (will prosper) that brings to Allah a sound heart; 89 Paradise will be brought near those who take heed for themselves and follow the straight path; 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They will dispute between themselves therein, and will say, 96 By Allah! we were certainly in manifest error, 97 When we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 yet they who have seduced us [into believing in you] are the truly guilty ones! 99 Now we have none to intercede for us, 100 And not a devoted friend. 101 If only we could return we would be among the believers." 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 Surely thy Lord, He is the All-mighty, the All-compassionate. 104
