And indeed Nuh (Noah) invoked Us, and We are the Best of those who answer (the request). 75 And We saved him and his household from the great distress, 76 And, his progeny, them We made the survivors (i.e. Shem, Ham and Japheth). 77 And We let it remain upon him in the latter: 78 "Peace and salutation to Noah among the nations!" 79 Lo! thus do We reward the good. 80 Surely he was among Our faithful creatures. 81 We drowned all the others (besides Noah and his people). 82 ۞ AND, BEHOLD, of his persuasion was Abraham, too, 83 Recall what time he came unto his Lord with a heart whole. 84 [And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship? 85 Why do you solicit false gods instead of God? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the Worlds' 87 The people invited him to attend their feast). Then he looked at the stars 88 And said: "I am sick (of what you worship)!" 89 But they went away from him, turning their backs. 90 He then sneaked upon their deities and said, “Do you not eat?” 91 What aileth ye that ye speak not? 92 And then he fell upon them, smiting them with his right hand. 93 Then they advanced toward him, hastening. 94 He said: Worship ye that which ye yourselves do carve 95 when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They said: "Build for him a building (it is said that the building was like a furnace) and throw him into the blazing fire!" 97 So they plotted a plot against him, but We made them the lowest. 98 And he said, “Indeed I shall go to my Lord Who will guide me.” 99 [And he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Bestow upon me the gift of [a son who shall be] one of the righteous!" 100 So We gave him the glad tidings of a forbearing boy. 101 And when he reached the age when he could work with him, he said, "O my son, I have seen in a dream that I am sacrificing you. So tell me what you think of it!" He replied, "O my father, do as you are commanded; and God willing, you will find me steadfast." 102 When both surrendered (to Allah's command) and Abraham flung the son down on his forehead, 103 We cried out: “O Abraham, 104 thou hast already fulfilled [the purpose of] that dream-vision!" Thus, verily, do We reward the doers of good: 105 Indeed, this was the clear trial. 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty victim. 107 and We preserved for him a good name among posterity. 108 Peace be upon Abraham. 109 That is how We reward those who do good. 110 Indeed, he was of Our believing servants. 111 And [in time] We gave him the glad tiding of Isaac, [who, too, would be] a prophet, one of the righteous; 112 And We blessed him and Isaac. And of their seed are some who do good, and some who plainly wrong themselves. 113
