Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Calamity! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what have you understood, how tremendous the true event is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And the 'Ad were destroyed by the furious cold blast of roaring wind 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and those before him, and the cities overthrown [the towns of the people of [Lout (Lot)] committed sin, 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 So, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 Then on that Day shall the (Great) Event befall, 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be brought to judgment: not [even] the most hidden of your deeds will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, he will say: Lo! read my book: 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 Clusters whereof shall be near at hand. 23 (And told:) "Eat and drink to your fill as reward for (good) deeds you had done in days of yore." 24 But as for him whose record shall be placed in his left hand, he will exclaim: "Oh, would that I had never been shown this my record, 25 Nor known whatever was my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My riches have not availed me, 28 Vanished has my power from me." 29 "Seize him and manacle him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Then, in a chain whereof the length is seventy Cubits, bind him. 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
