The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 Will pray for death, 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
