The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,- 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 What is your opinion – if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Indeed, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock, 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
