The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Ra; these are verses of the Book and the bright Qur’an. 1 Perhaps (often) will those who disbelieve wish that they were Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allah's Will in Islam Islamic Monotheism, this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise]. 2 Leave them to eat and enjoy, and let them be preoccupied with (false) hope. They will come to know! 3 And We destroyed no township but there was a known decree for it. 4 [but remember that] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [it]. 5 And yet, they [who deny the truth] say: "O thou unto whom this reminder has [allegedly] been bestowed from on high: verily, thou art mad! 6 Why do you not bring down the angels upon us, if you are truthful?" 7 We send not down the angels save with the Fact, and in that case (the disbelievers) would not be tolerated. 8 Verily We! it is We who have revealed the admonition, and verily We are the guardians thereof. 9 We have sent forth before you Messengers among the factions of the ancients. 10 But no Messenger came to them except he was mocked. 11 thus We cause this [habit of mocking] to enter into the hearts of the sinful. 12 They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples. 13 Even if We opened out to them a gate from heaven, and they were to continue (all day) ascending therein, 14 they would still say, "Our eyes have been dazzled. We are bewitched." 15
