[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shuaib said to all of them, “Do you not fear?” 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 So fear Allah, and obey me. 179 And I ask of you no hire therefor; and my hire is but with the Lord of the worlds. 180 ۞ Fill up the measure and do not diminish the goods of people, 181 “And weigh with a proper balance.” 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 And keep your duty unto Him Who created you and the generations of the men of old. 184 They said: "You are no more than one of those who have been bewitched, 185 for thou art nothing but a mortal like ourselves! And behold, we think that thou art a consummate liar! 186 “Therefore cause a part of the sky to fall upon us, if you are of the truthful.” 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 Then they branded him a liar, whereupon the chastisement of the Day of Canopy overtook them. It was the chastisement of a very awesome day. 189 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 Your Lord, He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 191
