The tribe of Thamud also rejected Our warnings: 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Hath the remembrance been given unto him alone among us? Nay, but he is a rash liar. 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 Tell them that each one of them has the right to have a certain share of water". 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 30 Lo! We sent upon them one Shout, and they became as the dry twigs (rejected by) the builder of a cattle-fold. 31 Hence, indeed, We made this Qur'an easy to bear in mind: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 32 The people of Lut treated the warning. as a lie. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a favour from Us. That is how We reward the grateful. 35 And he had already warned them of Our assault, but they disputed the warning. 36 They lusted after his guests, so We put out their eyes (and said): "Taste My punishment and My commination." 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 And assuredly We have made the Qur'an easy for admonition; is there then any one who would be admonished. 40
