The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ WHEN WHAT IS to happen comes to pass -- 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the Left Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Record in their left hands), Who will be those on the Left Hand? (As a disgrace for them, because they will enter Hell). 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruits such as they choose, 20 And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire. 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 like hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 Gushing water, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, of equal age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
