I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 Consider the night when it departs, 33 And by oath of the morning, when it spreads light. 34 surely it is one of the greatest things 35 Warn the men. 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul is a pledge for its own deeds; 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 In Gardens; they shall be asking, 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They will answer: "We did not fulfil our devotional obligations, 43 Nor did we used to feed the poor. 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and we gave the lie to the Day of Judgement 46 until there came to us the certainty. 47 And so, of no benefit to them could be the intercession of any that would intercede for them. 48 So what is the matter with them that they turn away from the advice? 49 As if they were startled donkeys - 50 running away from a lion? 51 Indeed, each one of them desires to be given unrolled scrolls. 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Nay, verily, this is an admonition 54 So, whoever wills, will remember it. 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
