The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 with fruits of their own choice 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 The Companions of the Right 27 Among thorn-less lote-trees. 28 and serried acacias, 29 and extended shade, 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 unfailing, unforbidden, 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
