He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And no blame is on you if he would not purify himself 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And hath fear, 9 You neglect. 10 Nay, but verily it is an Admonishment, 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 Exalted and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 and vines, and reeds, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 with darkness overspread: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
