The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 And there can be no denying of its befalling. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 And become dust dispersing. 6 You shall then become three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 carrying goblets and ewers and cups filled with the purest wine, 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 Those on the Right, how fortunate are those on the Right! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
