The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Indeed there has been a time for man, when even his name did not exist anywhere. 1 Verily We! We created man from a sperm of mixtures, that We might prove him, wherefore We made him hearing, seeing. 2 Indeed, We guided him to the way, be he grateful or be he ungrateful. 3 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth We have readied chains and shackles, and a blazing flame 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 A Fountain where the Devotees of Allah do drink, making it flow in unstinted abundance. 6 They [are those who] fulfill [their] vows and fear a Day whose evil will be widespread. 7 And out of His love, they give food to the needy, the orphan and the prisoner. 8 (Saying),"We feed you for the sake of Allah alone: no reward do we desire from you, nor thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah shall guard them against the woe of that Day, and will procure them freshness and joy, 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 Reclining therein on raised thrones, they will see there neither the excessive heat of the sun, nor the excessive bitter cold, (as in Paradise there is no sun and no moon). 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 A spring there, called Salsabil. 18 ۞ There wait on them immortal youths, whom, when thou seest, thou wouldst take for scattered pearls. 19 And when thou lookest, it is there thou wilt see a Bliss and a Realm Magnificent. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 (And it will be said unto them): Lo! this is a reward for you. Your endeavour (upon earth) hath found acceptance. 22
