Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 'It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship) anything with our Lord (Allah). 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 The ignorant fool among us has spoken outrageously against Allah, 4 And verily we! we had imagined that humankind and jinn would never forge against Allah a lie. 5 Some men used to seek refuge with the jinn in the past, but that only increased their insolence. 6 'And they (came to) think as ye thought, that Allah would not raise up any one (to Judgment). 7 "We went near the heavens but found it to be full of strong guards and shooting flames. 8 And we were wont to sit on seats therein to listen; but whosoever listeneth now findeth for him a dartin meteor in wait. 9 And we know not whether harm is boded unto all who are in the earth, or whether their Lord intendeth guidance for them. 10 Some of us are righteous, but some are otherwise, we are sects that differ. 11 We realised that we could not weaken the power of God on earth, nor outpace Him by running away. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed in it. And whoever believes in his Lord will not fear deprivation or burden. 13 ‘And that some among us are Muslims and some are the unjust; and whoever has accepted Islam – it is they who have thought rightly.’ 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 If they (the idolaters) tread the right path, We shall give them to drink of water in abundance 16 so that We may test them by it -- whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord shall be sternly punished. 17 And [He revealed] that the masjids are for Allah, so do not invoke with Allah anyone. 18 And when the slave of Allah stood up in prayer to Him, they crowded on him, almost stifling. 19
