The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you who are clothed! 1 arise, and warn! 2 Thy Lord magnify 3 And your garments purify! 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That will be- that Day - a Day of Distress,- 9 and it will not be easy for the unbelievers. 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And give him vast riches, 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 Then he desires that I should add more. 15 Nay! For lo! he hath been stubborn to Our revelations. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then looked he, 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels as the keepers of the Fire, and We have not made their number but as a trial for the unbelievers so that those who have been endowed with the Book will be convinced and the believers' faith will increase, and neither those who have been endowed with the Book nor the believers will fall into any doubt. As for those in whose hearts there is a sickness as well as the unbelievers, they will say: “What did Allah aim at by this strange parable?” Thus does Allah let whomsoever He pleases to go astray, and directs whomsoever He pleases to the Right Way. And none knows the hosts of your Lord but He. (And Hell has only been mentioned here) that people may take heed. 31
