The Human (Al-Insan)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
There was certainly a time when there was no mention of the human being. 1 Verily, it is We who have created man out of a drop of sperm intermingled, so that We might try him [in his later life]: and therefore We made him a being endowed with hearing and sight. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Surely We have prepared for the unbelievers chains and shackles and a burning fire. 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 which flows from a spring from which the servants of God will drink. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and recompense them for their patience with a Garden, and robes of silk. 12 Reclining therein upon couches, they shall behold therein neither sun nor hurting cold. 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 And there will be circulated among them vessels of silver and cups having been [created] clear [as glass], 15 (Transparent as) glass, made of silver; they have measured them according to a measure. 16 And they will be given to drink there of a Cup (of Wine) mixed with Zanjabil,- 17 (The water of) a spring therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- 19 And when you see there, you shall see blessings and a great kingdom. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
