The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
