The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created man from a clot of congealed blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely unto thy Lord is the Returning. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 by the lying forelock steeped in sin. 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We will call the guards of hell. 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.
